Kerr Tartans
The Kerrs have three tartans approved by the Scottish Register of Tartans:

The most commonly seen Kerr tartan is the "Kerr Modern". It is red, green, and black with the three lines in the red square. The first published version of this tartan was in Vestiarium Scoticum (1842). Its thread count was not recorded with the Scottish Register of Tartans until 1988 by the Marquis of Lothian.
Variations can often be found as the plaid on decorative holiday items in the winter.

In contrast to the "Kerr Modern", the "Kerr Hunting" is blue, breen, and black, with the three lines in the blue square. It was first recorded in 2002 prior to the creation of the Scottish Register of Tartans (2009).
Note: this pattern has no relationship to what is known as the "Black Watch" tartan, asides from having similar colors.

Several families in the Borders region of Scotland have a "Shepherd's Plaid" variation specifically designed for their chiefs. The Kerrs are no exception and have one designed exclusively for the Chief of Clan Kerr, the Marquis of Lothian KCVO of Ferniehurst Castle, Jedburgh Scotland.
